~2000BC:

Abraham and IsaacAbraham has two sons, Ishmael and Isaac.  Both are promised to be the father of nations.  Isaac has Jacob, who is renamed Israel  His 12 sons make up the 12 tribes.  Israel’s son Joseph is given the birthright and promises a land of his own

 

~1400BC:

Moses, a decedent of Israel, leads the Israelite’s out of the land of Egypt into the land of Canaan.  Moses gives the people a new law, that will later be studied and become part of the foundation for the Constitution of the U.S.A.

 

167 to 160 BC:

A Judean rebel group known as the Maccabees revolted against the Seleucid Empire.  They reasserted the Jewish religion and reduced the influence of Hellenism and Hellenistic Judaism.

1AD:

Birth of Christ, birth of Modern Christianity

 

~70AD:

The Great Jewish Revolt, spanning the fall of Galilee, the destruction of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Second Temple.  The result was that the Jewish rebels were scattered or sold into slavery.

610AD:

The creation of Islam and conversion of the decedents of Ishmael

 

~711AD:

Moorish Muslim’s, conquer nearly all of the Iberian Peninsula, aided by the Pope’s refusal to allow Frankish help, over the difference between Arian and Nicean Christians.  This was part of the expansion of the Umayyad Caliphate.

 

722AD:

Starts the Reconquista (Reconquest) in which Christian rule was re-established over the Iberian Peninsula.

 

~1100AD:

The Crusades with the goal of liberating the Holy Land from the Islamic Caliphate

1492AD:

The Moors are defeated at Granada, completing the Spanish Reconquista.  As heiress to the title, “Queen of Jerusalem”, Isabella funds Columbus seeking to finance another crusade, with gold from a new world.  As part of the “cleansing” of the Iberian peninsula, the Spanish Inquisition and expulsion of the Jews from Spain.

1564AD:

Fort Caroline established in present-day Jacksonville, Florida and lasted only a year before being destroyed by the Spanish from St. Augustine.

1607AD:

Jamestown Virginia established.  First English colony in America.  After failed semi-socialistic society, developed the work to eat concept that later drove American Industrialism.

1620AD:

Plymouth Colony.  Established by English Christian Separatists, seeking religious freedom and introduced elected self government to America;  Landed outside originally designated location, thus voiding the original compact allowing the creation of the Mayflower compact instead.
